Azerbaijan Medical University is a scientific center that unites thousands of students around the world, preparing professional doctors, specialists, and scientists. The educational process here is directly related to scientific research, achievements in the field of healthcare.
Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU) was founded in 1930 on the basis of the medical faculty of Baku State University (BSU). From this point of view, our university, which is considered the successor of the medical faculty of BSU, has almost a century of history.
Azerbaijan Medical University, which has been operating for more than half a century, is the largest scientific and medical center in Azerbaijan with a rich material and technical base, educational buildings, student hostels, clinics and laboratories. The research laboratories of our university are equipped with modern equipment, which increases the importance of scientific research and creates sufficient human resources in the field of medicine.
Along with the 4 existing clinics of AMU, there are 6 academic buildings, an administrative building and 6 student dormitories with 1700 beds. Only one 11-storey modern educational building has the capacity to accommodate 2,500 students. There are a number of theoretical departments of the university, an Internet center, a unique library with a stock of about 1 million books and the Tabib publishing house.
Garay Chingiz Garaybayli
Rector, Azerbaijan Tibb University
Garay Chingiz Garaybayli was born on 29th June, 1967 in Baku. In 1984 he graduated from high school with a gold medal, in the same year entered the medical institute (now Azerbaijan Medical University). In 1992 he graduated with honors. From 1992 to 1993 he worked as a senior laboratory assistant in the department of psychiatry at Medical University, from 1993 to 1996 hold the position of an assistant, during 1996-2007 years he was the Associate Professor.
In 1995, Professor Garay Garaybayli defended his candidate thesis and in 2007 doctoral dissertation. In 1997 he received the title of Associate Professor and in 2012 he became Professor.
Since 2007, he is the chief psychiatrist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the national coordinator for mental health.
On 11th April, 2016 Garay Garaybayli was appointed rector of Azerbaijan Medical University by the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
